First things first ... Hilyah, I curi-ed your Fran Fine word for added effect. I always give credit where it's due. Eheeeeee...
Anyway, so today was quite an interesting day at college and work. If only I could film the antics that goes on at TCPJ (specifically Sem 1 (CCM) ... or more specifically around people named Hilyah, Liyana, Karuna, Steph, Vann, Alison ...and ... ok ME!), we'd have our own wacky show on MTV.
Scene 1 - Cafe, TCPJ
Karuna: Li, my friend said the translation for sniper is "penghendap" and NOT "pembunuh senyap." Me: Really? I thought it meant a Peeping Tom.. I-Can't-Remember-Who-Said-This: Why do they call it Peeping Tom, ah?.. Me: How 'bout Peeping Jack... or Peeping Dick?! (All round laughter - Vann slurping on Pan Mee Soup - playfully hits me - intended for my arm but landed on my boob - sharp nails -) Me: (Crinkled face).... Owwwww!
Scene 2 - Work
(This conversation took place on Monday. I called this expat to schedule an interview)
Me: Hi, Lucy. This Aida from The Expat magazine. Lucy: (noisy) oh hi... ermm.. so sorry but (sound of cars whizzing by) I'm standing on the side of the road waiting for somebody. Can I talk to you some other time this week? Me: Sure, no problem.
(Today)
Me: Hi, Lucy. This is Aida from The Expat magazine. Lucy: Hi, Aida. ermm.. (heavy breathing) you're not gonna believe this, but on Monday I was on the side of the road and now, I'M IN LABOUR! Me: ..... (File 404 not found).... oh.. umm... Oh my God! ... umm... ok. Lucy: I have to go get my baby bag from home.... Me: ... ok... umm.. why don't I send you an email to make your life a whole lot easier then... Lucy: (Manages to laugh) .. ok. No worries. Thanks. Will call you next week. Me: .... ok... (struggling to say something encouraging)... hope everything goes well for you! Lucy: Thanks ... bye!
Oieh.... So that was that. Later, taking the advantage to appreciate the panoramic view of KL, I had my McD's dinner with Kim and Livian (my colleagues) outside the window ledge of our office! Mind you, we're on the 7th floor. The KL skyline was an amazing hue of orange, purple and yellow. And all three of us are afraid of heights... thrill seekers.
Tomorrow, got a restaurant review to do and a free ayurvedic massage in the afternoon. This is the first time I'm saying this ... I kinda love my job!
