12.45pm - Arrived at the Magellan Sutera Hotel (named after explorer Ferdinand Magellan) at the resort. That place was just so pretty. The good people there put me up on the Club Floor. By the by, my room was big enough for five people. And chocolate pralines on the table! oh wait <<<<rewind<<<>>>>>> where was I?.... oh yeah, my room had the best view... of the South China Sea! I wanna go back! My bathroom was awesome. Loved the shower. Had to freshen up quickly to meet the Mark-Comm exec for lunch.
1pm - Greeted by Sharon at the club lounge. A very pleasant Sarawakian. Took me to lunch at Al Fresco - a really nice Mediterranean outdoor restaurant at Magellan. Imagine having lunch with warm soft spray of the ocean breeze and the gorgeous view. I wanna go back! So, had fresh mushroom soup and delicious half-seafood and half-lamb pizza. Yummy!
2pm - After the nice meal, proceeded for site inspection of the SH properties. Boy we walked and walked and walked. From the Magellan, to the Pacific Sutera to the Marina Club. Checked out the different suites and marina facilities. They have eveything.
5pm - Tired as hell. Returned to my room to bathe and change for my.... SPA appointment!
5.30pm - Arrived at Mandara Spa at the next block. Loved the Balinese concept. Drank some ginger tea, had a foot bath, steam bath and a full body massage. I was floating and might as well have floated back to my room.
7pm - Back at room. Change to meet Dir of Comm (Michelle Iking a.k.a Daphne Iking's sister) and the COO for dinner at Ferdinand's (fine dining Italian restaurant). Also met the man himself, Chef Domenico, a native of Sardinia Island in Italy. A gem of a guy.
>>>>>good food, good wine, good conversation>>>>>
10.30pm - Back at room. Full and tired. Loved it!
Thursday, November 9
8.30am - Dragged myself out of bed. Breakfast at the lounge. Cute and utterly hospitable waiters. If all mornings were like this...
9am - Met Sharon. Strolled over to the Golf and Country Club. Met Affendi (the manager, who is a qualified graduate of Golf Property Management mind you... didn't know there was such a degree!) so, hopped on the buggy, and went on a tour of the bloody huge course. It's got a view of the ocean on one side and the city on the other. Put on m' golf shoes and shot a few at the driving range. I stand corrected, it is a form of exercise, contrary to my previous beliefs.
12.30pm - Made our way to the marina via the boardwalk. Took a boat to Manukan Island, about 10 minutes away. Loved the boat ride. Arrived for a tour of the shalets and had a BBQ lunch. Wanted to go snorkeling but idiot that I am, left my swimsuit at the hotel. The water was beautiful. Crystal clear that one can see the fishies from standing and looking down. Lovely.
3pm - Back at hotel. Changed to go on city tour. Nothing much in the city actually. Quite small. Made friends with an Australian couple. Saw some seedy (scary looking) characters in town.
4.45pm - Back at hotel. Pengsan for a while. Laughed my ass off watching Vegas Baby on Starmovies.
5.40pm - Took a swim on the beach followed by the pool.
7.30pm - Dinner with Sharon at Spice Island restaurant.
10.30pm - Enjoyed my last night in my pretty room... packing! Sob sob!
Friday, November 10
8.30am - Breakfast followed by a bike ride around Tanjung Aru beach. Thank God I know how to ride a bicycle coz it would've been damn yembarrasing.
10.25am - Out of breathe. Struggling to put on swimsuit while stabilising heartbeat to rush to go snorkeling.
10.35am - Missed the boat at the marina. Bummed. But oh wait.... WHO did I see? Oh about 18 hot lookin' NZ All Blacks rugby players! Forget snorkeling. I had to anyway coz the next boat was chartered by the hot guys themselves. You stupid chicken for not getting their group pictorial! Anyway, I and Sharon decided the afternoon was compensated enough by the eye candy.
11am - Swam at the marina infinity pool and wallowed that could not go snorkeling.
12.30pm - Lunch at Silk Garden Chinese restaurant with Sharon and cutie Chef Domenico. I actually interrogated the chef about Italy and his hometown and cultures. This maybe useless info to some of you, but hey it's my damn blog - The Godfather is not fiction. There actually is a Mafia cartel in Sicily (still) in the district of Corleone.
2pm - Footy massage by the beach under the blistering heat. But still, lovely.
3.30 - Checked out and said goodbye. I WILL GO BACK!
